A short-haired man is lifted from a darkened earth, raising a sword of light to meet ranks of angels descending through a break in the clouds above a shadowed city.

The Militant Disciple

A call to arms for the disciple who must win the war within before the war without.

Call to Arms

Make no mistake about it. We are at war. This war takes place in your mind. It is a battle between the spirit of this world and the Spirit of God. If we are to win this war we MUST be militant. We must be MORE than committed. For you who are called, there is no choice, soldier. It’s all or nothing. So stand your ground and ready yourself. This is your call to arms.

…forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3:13-14

Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.
Romans 8:28-30

Discipline: The Heart of a Disciple

Before we go to war we must train. We must be refined in the fires of God by fighting the battle within before we fight the battle outside. We must make our hearts full of tender mercies yet cloaked in shining armor. We must learn to be wise as serpents but remain innocent as doves (Matthew 10:16). We must know the enemy within, every crack and crevice in our hearts. We must probe our own weaknesses and build up muscles we have never used.

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Hebrews 4:12

The pain we go through now will make the pain we go through later bearable. Know that you have not signed up for a cakewalk. You have enlisted in the armies of the Almighty Yah! This is a time of great preparation. Your first task is to learn discipline.

Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Yahshua Christ;
1 Peter 1:13

Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night. But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation.
1 Thessalonians 5:6-8

You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Yahshua. And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Yahshua Christ. No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier.
2 Timothy 2:1-4

The Internal War

We are not fighting so much against the world as we are ourselves. If we are not strong ourselves how are we to fight a stronger enemy? Our enemy’s attacks are only successful when we have not exercised, not gone through extensive training, or have let our guard down.

But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
Hebrews 5:14

When we are wearied from battle, these are the best times for an unexpected attack. While we are strangers and foreigners on earth it is wise to never remove our armor. Sleep in the strength of God with one eye open, for the enemy waits in the dark to devour us. Clothe yourself with the protection of God, clinging to your sword even as you rest. Be relentless in your fight again the sin within.

Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.
Colossians 3:5

Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.
1 Corinthians 9:26

Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. But put on the Lord Yahshua Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.
Romans 13:12-13

The External War

Now that you have prepared your heart and your mind and have overcome your own flesh, now you can start to look outward. Now you can recognize the enemy in others that you have fought in yourself.

And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye’; and look, a plank is in your own eye? Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
Matthew 7:3-5

The Full Armor of God

I cannot put it any more succinctly than the apostle Paul did. God has given us impenetrable tools to protect ourselves. Just don’t take them off on the battlefield, and know that while you are alive on earth, you are on the battle field.

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
Ephesians 6:10–20

Speaking boldly as an ambassador for Christ is how we use the sword of the Spirit.

Therefore repent! Otherwise I will come to you shortly and wage war against them with the sword of My mouth.
Revelation 2:16

And from His mouth proceeds a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations…
Revelation 19:15

As messengers for Christ who carry the word of God, we are the sword that comes out of His mouth. We who overcome this world will rule and reign with Him.

…if we endure, we will also reign with Him.
2 Timothy 2:12

To the one who overcomes, I will grant the right to sit with Me on My throne, just as I overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.
Revelation 3:21

You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign upon the earth.”
Revelation 5:10

But we must first come out from under the influence and control of the enemy into the Heavenly country of our inheritance. If you are in captivity you cannot fight, but God has provided an escape just as he did for Lot when he brought him out of Sodom and Gomorrah. Sodom and Gomorrah are very much alive in the spirit of the world today, even if the cities were destroyed long ago. Babylon and Rome as well. Every empire has sought to consume this world with evil. A hundred years ago it was the British Empire. Today it is the American Empire and tomorrow it could very well be the United Nations or another alliance of nations. I can tell you soldier that we are near the end, where it is even more critical to dig in and to press on in your upward calling.

All the nations have drunk the wine of the passion of her immorality. The kings of the earth were immoral with her, and the merchants of the earth have grown wealthy from the extravagance of her luxury.” Then I heard another voice from heaven say: “Come out of her, My people, so that you will not share in her sins or contract any of her plagues. For her sins are piled up to heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities.
Revelation 18:3-5

The Weapons of our Warfare

Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. For sin shall not have dominion over you…
Romans 6:12-14

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.
2 Corinthians 10:3-6

The weapons, or instruments, of our warfare are forged in our hearts when we are refined in the fires of God. God does not use the same weapons of the world. Spiritual battles require spiritual weapons and tools. They must be made from the battles we have fought within ourselves. Then the tools God has crafted in us can be wielded against external threats, even great powers that we couldn’t possibly defeat by our own power alone.

Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the LORD of Hosts.
Zechariah 4:6

My message and my preaching were not with persuasive words of wisdom, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith would not rest on men’s wisdom, but on God’s power.
1 Corinthians 2:4-5

I can tell you from experience how quickly a seed from the enemy can take root in your thoughts and imagination when you let your guard down for even a split second. You must always have your eyes and ears in a mode of observation. You must be a watchman on your own wall. When you see the flame of the enemy’s torch distant on the horizon you sound the trumpet to your soul. You must strengthen your gate, guard your walls and send out a company to lay in wait in ambush to cut the enemy off on his approach. You must react faster than your enemy. Give him zero ground.

When you have started the battle by defeating your own weaknesses, you are strengthened for the fight ahead. The external enemy has nothing to hold against you. Your weapons are stronger than his because they carry the strength of God formed in you. Here is the true meaning of the verse:

I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.
Philippians 4:13

The Good Fight

But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. Fight the good fight of faith…
1 Timothy 6:11-12a

The churches near the end of Paul’s life were struggling with persecution from Emperor Nero, who was putting Christians in arenas with wild animals to be torn apart, and hanging them on poles to be burned alive. They didn’t know whether to stay in Rome or flee. Paul offered these words as an example of a faithful fight.

I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
2 Timothy 4:1-7

Paul stood in the face of an enemy that was prepared to strike him down physically, yet he used sound reasoning and spiritual discernment to appeal to their good side. Even if it didn’t work he still gave them that chance. He didn’t sink to their level, to become driven by his flesh. He embodied the truth in love and showed them what goodness was. On some level, everyone desired that goodness. Everyone needs to hear the hard truth. It is only when they have faced their own enemies that they can understand their own need for the truth and love of God. By seeing you standing in the truth, they have an opportunity to either reject your offering of reason to remain in bondage and blindness or accept it and grow. In all likelihood you will experience blowback.

Therefore
“If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
If he is thirsty, give him a drink;
For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.”
Romans 12:20

But in most cases, a person never receives the truth when it is first presented to them. They fight it with all their flesh. However, if you have pierced between bone and marrow with the sword of the Spirit of truth you have inflicted a wound that will not heal. They will crawl home and lick their wounds. They will know that there is a place in them what knows what you said is true. Sometimes it takes years for them to realize it and you may never see the fruit of your labor.

The Soldier

Some of us are called to get down and dirty in the trenches where it is loud and brutal.

“Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that wars entangles himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who has chosen him to be a soldier.”
2 Timothy 2:3–4

Yet I considered it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, fellow worker, and fellow soldier, but your messenger and the one who ministered to my need;
Philippians 2:25

Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.
Jude 3

Qualities of a Soldier of Christ

To get through the seemingly impossible task of fighting in the trenches you have to remember your training.

  • Remain surrendered to God’s authority
  • You were trained in righteousness
  • Exercise discernment
  • Reason from the Spirit

AWOL

Sometimes your fellow trenchmen fail in their commitment. When they have lost their nerve and turned from God it is you who must turn them back around.

“Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him; let him know, that he which converts the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.”
James 5:19–20

“Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.”
Galatians 6:1

“And of some have compassion, making a difference: and others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.”
Jude 22–23

Sometimes you might even have to be forceful with your brother to shake him out of his spell.

“Open rebuke is better than secret love. Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.”
Proverbs 27:5–6

If they still will not listen you sometimes have to let them walk into enemy fire.

Timothy, my child, I entrust you with this command in keeping with the previous prophecies about you, so that by them you may fight the good fight, holding on to faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and thereby shipwrecked their faith. Among them are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have handed over to Satan to be taught not to blaspheme.
1 Timothy 1:18-20

The Watchman

Some of us are called to stand guard on the wall of the city through the night while others are deep in slumber. Our eyes are always sharp and scanning the horizon. We observe the gate and outer walls looking for anything out of the ordinary. We communicate with other night watchmen to stay up to date on the status of our territory. When we confirm the enemy approaching we sound the trumpet to wake everyone up.

“For it is light that makes everything visible. This is why it is said: ‘Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.’”
Ephesians 5:14

“And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.”
Romans 13:11

“So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober.”
1 Thessalonians 5:6

“What I say to you, I say to everyone: ‘Watch!’”
Mark 13:37

“Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.”
Luke 21:36

“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.”
Colossians 4:2

“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”
1 Peter 5:8

We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.”
Hebrews 2:1

While people are saying, “Peace and security,” destruction will come upon them suddenly, like labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. But you, brothers, are not in the darkness so that this day should overtake you like a thief. For you are all sons of the light and sons of the day; we do not belong to the night or to the darkness.
1 Thessalonians 5:3-5

The Armies of God

Our training is not merely in solo.

Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel, and not in any way terrified by your adversaries, which is to them a proof of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that from God. For to you it has been granted on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake, having the same conflict which you saw in me and now hear is in me.
Philippians 1:27-30

It is said that a chain is only as strong as its weakest link. We train against one another inside the gates so when we fight outside know each others capabilities.

As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.
Proverbs 27:17

Among your ranks are your captains and sergeants, ones who have been appointed by your Commander and have proven themselves in battle. Listen to them and take their criticisms. It is for your own good and for the good of the entire company.

Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. For he is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil. Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience’ sake. For because of this you also pay taxes, for they are God’s ministers attending continually to this very thing. Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.
Romans 13:1-7

If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten? But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons. Furthermore, we have had human fathers who corrected us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much more readily be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live? For they indeed for a few days chastened us as seemed best to them, but He for our profit, that we may be partakers of His holiness. Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.
Hebrews 12:7-11

March together to combat sin head on. Do not turn to the left or to the right on your own accord. God will lay your path and set your steps. Trust in Him with all your heart, mind, soul and strength.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off every encumbrance and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with endurance the race set out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Yahshua, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls. You have not yet resisted to bloodshed, striving against sin. And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons:

“My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord,
Nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him;
For whom the Lord loves He chastens,
And scourges every son whom He receives.”
Hebrews 12:1-5

You do NOT stand alone, even if no one stands with you in the end.

But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels…
Hebrews 12:22

Divided We Fall

If we do not have the same gospel message and marching orders from our Commander we cannot be of one mind and one spirit. We cannot march in sync. We cannot coordinate effective strikes. We cannot know when to attack or retreat.

“Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand.”
Matthew 12:25

You can’t just unite two armies who are unfamiliar with one another’s training and tactics and expect good results. Christ’s armies are trained in His ways, however, His armies on earth have decided to deconstruct His methods to reassemble their own tactics and methods of combat. This will not do. All armies brought under the ranks of Christ must do things His way. There are no other ways. He is our General and our King. His ways are spiritual.

“For whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are you not carnal?”
1 Corinthians 3:3

Those who do not keep the ways of Christ and try to make their own way, do not fight with them, for they will fall. You would be better on your own rather than be a rebel and traitor.

“Mark them which cause divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine which you have learned; and avoid them.”
Romans 16:17

If your brothers in the flesh will not stand with you, or you find them seeking to ambush when their orders were to claim the high ground, then stand with the spiritual armies of God, not those who disobey. Remember all those who have gone before you and stood strong in the Lord and the power of His might. These are your brethren in the High Place.

Yahweh will guard you from all evil; He will preserve your soul. Yahweh will watch over your coming and going, both now and into the age.
Psalm 121:8

Infiltrators of the Camp

We should not be so arrogant as to think we can ignore our enemies, for they will certainly infiltrate our ranks and tear us apart from within.

And this occurred because of false brethren secretly brought in (who came in by stealth to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Yahshua, that they might bring us into bondage)
Galatians 2:4

For I know this, that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock. Also from among yourselves men will rise up, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after themselves.
Acts 20:29-30

But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction.
2 Peter 2:1

For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God and our Lord Yahshua Christ.
Jude 4

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.
1 Peter 5:8-9

For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.
2 Corinthians 11:13-15

This began at the outset of the fight. Men sought to corrupt the teachings of the apostles and succeeded to a large extent. Many of the fathers of our religion did not hold fast to God nor the doctrines that apostolic Christianity taught. It is our job to right those wrongs, to rip off the sheep skins from the wolves and prove their ways are false.

Know Your Enemy

…lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.
2 Corinthians 2:11

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.
1 John 4:1

“Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.
Matthew 10:16

The serpent was cunning (Genesis 3:1). We must be too, but in the ways of Christ. We are trained to know our Commander and His enemies, but we do not use the ways of our enemies. We do not draw blood in anger. We shine light into their darkness.

Psychological Warfare

One message has been given from on High over and over, so that we should never let our guards down:

Do not be deceived. Do not be deceived. Do not be deceived.

Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.” Wake up from your drunken stupor, as is right, and do not go on sinning. For some have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame.
1 Corinthians 15:33-34

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.
Galatians 6:7

Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality,[b] 10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
1 Corinthians 6:9-10

Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death. Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above…
James 1:15-17

Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first…
2 Thessalonians 2:3

And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.
Matthew 24:4-8

True Colors

How do we know who the ones are who are operating under Christ’s authority?

They are of the world. Therefore they speak as of the world, and the world hears them. We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.
1 John 4:5–6

Most assuredly, I say to you, he who receives whomever I send receives Me; and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me.”
John 13:20

You must hear His voice to be of the truth.

Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.
John 18:37

He who is of God hears God’s words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God.
John 8:47

But you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep, as I said to you. My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.
John 10:26–27

And when you hear God’s voice you know true love, a love that drives you to love one another.

By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.
John 13:35

Love… does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;
1 Corinthians 13:6

If you hear His voice you will also obey Him. Through this act of submission to your Commander you receive His Spirit of truth. This is how you know Him.

If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.
John 14:15-17

If you have the truth you are commanded to speak it in love to your company.

Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into Christ Himself, who is the head. From Him the whole body, fitted and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love through the work of each individual part.
Ephesians 4:15-16

Love without truth is not love. Truth without love is not truth. They both depend on one another. They are inseparable. Remember, iron sharpens iron.

If you speak your Commander’s words and others reject you they are not serving the same Commander.

He who hears you hears Me, he who rejects you rejects Me, and he who rejects Me rejects Him who sent Me.
Luke 10:16

Not everyone who claims to serve your Commander is listening to Him. There are consequences for that.

Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
Matthew 7:21

They are not serving in God’s spiritual kingdom. They are serving their own flesh and the world. When you speak from the Spirit, they think it is foolishness and offensive.

The natural person does not receive the things of God’s Spirit because they are spiritually discerned.
1 Corinthians 2:12–14

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
1 Corinthians 1:18

“If you were of the world, the world would love his own… because you are not of the world… therefore the world hates you.
John 15:19

They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us.
1 John 2:19

Discerning between the spirit of the world and the Spirit of Christ will be your guide. Those who are of the world, committed all the things God put in it that have become corrupted by the works of man’s hands, these are not going to hear one who has forsaken the things of the world for Christ. People will make alliances with one another and form many factions, but there are only two factions. One of the Spirit of God and one of the spirit of the world. Choose this day whom you will serve.

And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve Yahweh.
Joshua 24:15

Don’t Give Up

You may have given in to your enemy, but don’t give up. As long as your eyes are set on Christ you can make a comeback. Not every battle leads to an immediate victory. Not every winning strategy works for the next fight. Bigger battles require greater preparation. Every loss can be turned into gain by learning something new about your enemy.

And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
Galatians 6:9

My Marching Orders
