On Eudoxius
This Eudoxius was bishop of Germanicia, a city neighboring the Taurus; but despising the little town, he rushed to Antioch when he learned of Leontius’s death. Then he seized the throne contrary to the ecclesiastical ordinances. Driven from there by imperial letters and ordered to present himself at the synod assembling in Seleucia of Isauria, he came as commanded, yet did not dare to enter the council, but ran to the city of Constantine; and flattering the imperial chamberlains, he persuaded them to have the synod gather there.
And that I may not prolong everything by saying it all (for I recalled all these things in that composition), he succeeded both in seizing the throne of that city and in stripping the Churches of the heralds of the truth.
