Library Theodoret Compendium of Heretical Fables
Book 1
On Hermogenes
Hermogenes said that God crafted all things from underlying and co-unbegotten matter. For the thunderstruck man supposed it impossible even for the God of all things to craft from things that are not. This man said that the Lord’s body was deposited in the sun, and that the devil and the demons will be poured back into matter. Against this man Theophilus the bishop of the Antiochenes wrote, and Origen likewise. And against Valentinus and those from him, Irenaeus and Clement and Origen also wrote.
