Library Theodoret Questions on Exodus
Questions on Exodus 29: Why David called the manna “bread of angels”
Why did the prophet David call the manna “bread of angels”?
Because angels served in the giving of it. For the incorporeal nature has no need of food. In the same way it was called “bread of heaven,” because it was brought down from above—not from heaven itself, but from the air. So also the birds that pass through the air are called “birds of heaven.”
