Library Eusebius of Caesarea On Ecclesiastical Theology

Book 3, Chapter 8: How he declared that the Saviour’s flesh is of no benefit

Yet, having said so much about the Saviour’s flesh, he does not keep even it safe for us—would that he had preserved a pious reasoning at least concerning it! But as it is, after all that he has said about it, he declares that at the consummation of the ages it is left deserted by the Word, writing thus (Nr. 104):

“If, then, he confesses that the flesh profits him nothing, how is it possible that what is from the earth and profits nothing should be with the Word in the ages to come, as though it were of benefit to him?”
