Library Eusebius of Caesarea On Ecclesiastical Theology

Book 1, Chapter 4: That those who deny the Son’s subsistence vainly call themselves Christians

These things, then, the word of truth cries aloud in the person (ἐκ προσώπου) of the Church. But those who deny the Son of God, and say that God is one and nothing else besides—why do they trouble the Church in vain, when they ought to associate with the synagogues of the Jews? And why do they pierce themselves through with blasphemous words, slandering the one God with double titles, if indeed they suppose the same one to be Father and the same one to be Son? For of whom is he Father, if no Son subsists? And whose Son will he be, if the one who begot him does not exist beforehand? And being one, it will surely be he himself who was made flesh and suffered and passed through the mortal life among men.
