Timothy

Timotheos

Τιμόθεος

Honoring God. Paul’s child in the faith.

Timothy is Paul’s coworker, son of a Jewish mother and a Greek father. Paul circumcises him because of the Jews in those places who knew his father was Greek (Acts 16:3)—so the mission among them would not stumble. This differs from Titus, whom Paul refused to circumcise.
